Fleurieu Peninsula accommodation takes out gold at Qantas Australian Tourism Awards

Beach Huts Middleton have been awarded gold at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards in the Deluxe Accommodation category

The iconic Beach Huts Middleton on the picturesque Fleurieu Peninsula, has claimed gold at the recent Qantas Australian Tourism Awards taking home 4 – 4.5 Stars in the Deluxe Accommodation category.

The Fleurieu Peninsula business was one of 10 recognised at the prestigious event which celebrates excellence across 26 categories, recognising the best in the nation’s tourism industry.

“Our team is ecstatic and thrilled to receive Gold at the prestigious Qantas Australian Tourism Awards 2023 for 4-4.5 Star Deluxe Accommodation,” The business wrote on Facebook.

“A HUGE thank you to everyone involved, our guests and dedicated staff.”

Silver was awarded to the Ship Inn Stanley in Tasmania, while Cape York Peninsula Lodge in Queensland took home bronze.

The Beach Huts have been a staple in the community for decades and was previously known as the Old Middleton Grain Store, with a restaurant and 6 cabins at the rear of the complex. Flash forward to today and they have have welcomed thousands through their doors, promising a memorable stay everytime.

Shaun de Bruyn, Chairperson of the Australian Tourism Awards, commended South Australia’s tourism operators for their unwavering commitment to excellence.

“It is always a proud moment to witness tourism operators from South Australia being recognised for their outstanding commitment to excellence in their businesses and our state’s tourism industry more broadly,” he said.

“Since the introduction of an accessible tourism category in our state-based awards in 2018, South Australian tourism operators have been exemplary in embracing accessible tourism practices, setting a benchmark for the industry. This commitment to inclusivity has not only created more opportunities for people with diverse abilities to experience South Australia but has also positioned the state as a leader in driving positive change,” Mr de Bruyn continued.

“To have Adelaide Fringe, so loved by South Australians, held up as the nation’s best accessible tourism experience is especially satisfying.”
