Vintners Bar & Grill, a cornerstone of the Barossa Valley food scene, has announced the return of their VBG Art Prize. They’re calling all local artists to showcase their creativity and capture the heart of ‘food, wine, and place’ in their artwork. This exciting competition is a natural extension of Vintners’ long-standing appreciation for art and its integral role in their award-winning dining experience.
The VBG Art Prize, now in its second year, is offering a generous $2,500 prize to the artist whose work best embodies the spirit of the Barossa as seen through the lens of Vintners Bar & Grill. Last year’s winner, Abi Mader, took home the inaugural prize with her piece inspired by end-of-vintage celebrations and the joy of good food. Her artwork now proudly hangs in the restaurant’s Veranda Room.
Head Chef and Director Peter Clarke spoke the restaurant’s deep connection to the arts, saying, “Throughout our 28 years, we have continuously embraced art as a key element of our identity. The VBG Art Prize is an extension of this passion, allowing us to honor the rich artistic talents found right here in the Barossa and Light region.”
The competition is unique in its acceptance of various artistic mediums, with the exception of photography. Artists are encouraged to submit works that portray the beautiful marriage of delicious food, exquisite wine, and the unique Barossa lifestyle, ideally incorporating elements of Vintners Bar & Grill itself.
To be eligible, participants must reside in the Barossa and Light Council area. Entries are open until September 6th, 2024, so there’s plenty of time to perfect your masterpiece. The artwork should be 70cm x 100cm (portrait) and must be delivered to Brand Warrior in Angaston, along with the artist’s contact information.
The winning artwork will not only become a treasured part of the Vintners’ collection but will also gain significant exposure. It will be reproduced for promotional purposes by the restaurant, with full credit given to the artist. The winner will be announced at a special event at Vintners Bar & Grill on September 25th, 2024.
If you’re an artist interested in participating or simply want to learn more, all the details and terms and conditions can be found on the Vintners’ website at vintners.com.au/art-prize.
