The service departs Adelaide at 5.50pm and arrives in Bali at 8.40pm. The return flight will depart at 10.50pm and arrive in Adelaide at 6.20am.

Adelaide Airport Managing Director, Brenton Cox said the airport was delighted to welcome Virgin Australia flights to Bali.

“We’re into the very busy peak holiday period over Christmas / New Year and we know there is significant pent-up demand for South Australians wanting to head to holiday destinations such as Bali for the first time in three years,” Mr Cox said.

“It’s exciting to see the launch of this route as part of wider strong growth in our international markets.”

Virgin Australia Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer Alistair Hartley said the new services provided customers with more options on the popular leisure route.

“Virgin Australia’s Adelaide-Bali service creates more value and choice for travellers and is great news for South Australians,” Mr Hartley said.

“This is a year-round service that will operate daily in the peaks and continue three times per week in the off season.

“We are excited to see this service take-off, representing the latest step in our growing short-haul international footprint.”

It comes ahead of direct flights between Adelaide and Tasmania resuming this week, with Adelaide-Launceston services taking off from 15 December and Adelaide-Hobart services resuming the following day.

Virgin Australia is currently operating more flights through Adelaide than pre-COVID-19, with December capacity through Adelaide Airport sitting at 118 per cent of the comparable period in 2019.

The airline will operate 175 services through Adelaide each week during the Christmas period, with up to 10 services per day between Adelaide and Melbourne, and five per day between Adelaide and Brisbane and Sydney.
