This year’s Carols by Candlelight will go ahead as an online event for the second year in a row, following the decision to cancel its traditional Elder Park format due to the pandemic.

Despite extensive talks with SA Health, organisers of the event have decided going ahead as a virtual event would be the best option to maintain the safety of the community.

The annual event dating back to 1944, has been a long-loved Christmas tradition amongst families who’ve previously flocked to Elder Park to be entertained by a stellar line-up of stars.

Past events have seen more than 30,000 people head to the edge of the Torrens to enjoy an evening of festive celebrations, however last year was the first time the carols were cancelled, with organisers unable to guarantee the safety of patrons due to social distancing restrictions.

This year, Channel Seven’s Mark Soderstrom, Rosanna Mangiarelli and Amelia Mulcahy will again host a virtual Carols by Candlelight, to be broadcast on the network on December 12.

Former lead singer of 80s UK pop band Bros, Matt Goss will be a headlining act, as well as top Australian entertainer, Rhonda Burchmore who will be here for her Cabaret De Paris show.

A replay of the event will also be broadcast on Channel Seven on Christmas Day.

Watch the Adelaide Carols by Candlelight live on the Seven Network on December 12, 2021.
