Seven SA wineries named in Wines of the World exclusive awards shortlist

Here’s your chance to vote for your favourite South Australian winery in the international Best of Wine Tourism Awards!

Seven South Australian wineries have been named as finalists in this year’s international Best of Wine Tourism Awards People’s Choice, a feat most through impossible on a global stage.

The People’s Choice vote is now open in the Great Wine Capitals Global Network wine tourism awards, a world-wide event which for a decade has been celebrating innovation and excellence in wine tourism.

With this being the peoples vote, it’s now your chance to get behind SA and vote for your favourite South Australian winery.

Award categories include: accomodation, architecture & landscape, art & culture, innovation wine tourism experiences, sustainable wine tourism practices, wine tourism restaurants and wine tourism services.

Nominated by an expert panel, these finalists are industry icons and rising stars all worthy of a 2022 Regional Best Of Wine Tourism Award.

Barossa Valley’s Elderton Wines was the only South Australian winery to be nominated in the wine tourism services category, a major win against its international players.

Well-established favourite, Penfolds Magill Estate is also the sole South Australian nomination in the wine tourism restaurants category, putting this much-loved icon on show as one of the world’s best.

  • Simon Tolley Wines (accomodation)
  • Lake Breeze Winery (architecture & landscape)
  • Chalk Hill Wines (innovative wine tourism experiences)
  • Gemtree Wines (sustainable wine tourism practices)
  • Banrock Station (sustainable wine tourism practices)
  • Penfolds Magill Estate (wine tourism restaurants)
  • Elderton Wines (wine tourism services)

SA is amongst the finest wine regions in the world who feature in the awards, with a diverse network of international cities and wine regions on the list that each have their own unique offering. Other featured countries include Spain, France, South Africa, Switzerland, Germany, Argentina, Portugal, United States, Chile and Italy.

This list spans across the old and new world and offers a guide for the international wine tourism industry and its travel experiences.
