If you’ve ever spilt coffee on your clothes and said “worse day ever” or talked to your friends about how busy you are and all you want “is a night in on the couch”, it’s probably time you took a break from those first world problems and walked a mile in someone else’s boots.
The Hutt Street Centre are currently calling for registrations for their 4th annual Walk a Mile In My Boots event held on Friday 10 August, to support and bring attention to the needs of Adelaide’s homeless and disadvantaged during National Homeless Persons Week.
By signing up and spreading the word you are gaining valuable insight into what people who are homeless and vulnerable in Adelaide face each cold winter morning walking the streets to get breakfast, a cup of tea and a hot shower, and it’s only one hour of your time.
There may not be any financial benefit in it for you, but the warm fuzzies that come with knowing you’ve been a part of something important, and helped raised much need funds and support for people experiencing homelessness in Adelaide, will be reward enough.
Where: 7:30am start Corner of North & East Terrace, 8:00am finish South Terrace with a Hutt St Centre breakfast in the parklands.
When: Friday 10 August 2012.
In 2011, the Hutt St Centre raised over $60,000 with the support of 2,200 Walk A Mile In My Boots participants. This year they’re aiming for 4,000 to help Hutt St Centre continue to provide essential services for people who are homeless and vulnerable living in Adelaide.
If the warm fuzzies wasn’t enough of an incentive for you, get a team of 5 or more together and register before close of business Friday 3 August 2012 to go into the draw to win some great prizes, including Return Flights for Two from Adelaide to Cairns plus 5 nights luxury accommodation at spectacular Trinity Beach.
To know you have given hope to another human being is a truly rewarding experience, so please walk a mile with the Hutt St Centre on Friday 10 August 2012 and help Hutt St Centre to rebuild lives.
