Want to be the next South Aussie reality star? A new MAFS spinoff is casting now

A new Married At First Sight spinoff is casting South Australians, promising bigger drama, cultural clashes and the chance for locals to become the next reality TV stars.

It’s no secret, Australians can’t get enough of Married at First Sight. So, when news of a new spin-off series featuring returning MAFS legends in an exciting new format floated to our desks, naturally, our ears pricked up.

From the producers of the BAFTA-nominated MAFS UK comes Second Marriage at First Sight. This cross-continental spinoff will follow British singles “moving down under,” while Aussie bachelor(ette)s “head to the motherland” in search of love.

To raise the stakes even further, this season’s cast of “singles” will include four British and four Australian MAFS icons from previous seasons, all returning to the can’t-look-away experiment in the hope of finding love the second time around—perhaps this time, with a little more success. We’re all eager to see which of our favourites will be making their return to the MAFS couch.

Some names being tossed around include Al Perkins, of MAFS season 9 and Love Island fame, or season 6 star Jessika Power, having recently relocated to the UK.

In this new format, contestants will once again be “expertly paired” with their perfect partner—but this time, their match will come from the other side of the globe. For the returning Aussies, that means being matched with their compatible, tea-drinking, welly-wearing other half. Meanwhile, the returning Brits can expect to find a good old Aussie geezer or sheila waiting for them at the end of the aisle.

However, producers are still on the lookout for the series’ fresh new Aussie bachelors and bachelorettes to be paired with the returning favourites, and for the first time have opened their database to the public. They’re inviting applications from individuals aged 18 or over who would be willing to relocate to the other side of the world for love.

If you, or someone you know, is single and ready for a whirlwind romance that could quite literally sweep them across the globe, this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity might just be calling your name.

“The experiment begins again in the UK”, explains the producers. “Each couple will navigate cultural clashes and old wounds before they head to Australia to meet friends and family on the other side of the world”.

The contestants will be faced with the ultimate decision: will they consider uprooting their entire life for love?

“Will the Brits tempt their partners to trade beach life for Blighty, or will love pull them towards a fresh start under sunnier skies?”, describes Channel 4 productions.

“For these second-timers, there’s more at stake than ever before. These brides and grooms aren’t just risking their hearts again, they’re risking everything, their friendships, careers and their homes, as one half of each couple takes a gamble on the possibility of a new life and new love on the other side of the world”.
