Roving performers, an art market, and food and wine will be the order of the day when funky restaurant precinct Waymouth Street comes alive with an eclectic, artistic garden street party.

‘One Night: Two Experiences – the Waymouth Street Party and Eliza Street Art Market’ will be the place to be between 5.00pm and 9.00pm tonight, Friday 9th March.

The street will be closed to traffic between Manna Café and Topham Mall. Restaurants including Manna Café, Georges, Bistro Dom, Stax, Gallery, Melt, Press* Food and Wine will deliver sophisticated street eats and drinks among artificial grass, straw bales, lanterns and banners in a unique festival atmosphere.

The event is part of Splash Adelaide, a joint Adelaide City Council and State Government campaign to enliven city streets and underused spaces during the summer months.

“Waymouth Street is fast becoming a food and art hotspot and the street party will give the traders a chance to showcase their unique dining experiences to an after-work crowd looking for something different,” said Lord Mayor Stephen Yarwood.

Well-known Adelaide artist Stephen Langdon will show off his skills live by exclusively painting one of Splash Adelaide’s VW Beetles on the night.

In nearby Eliza Street, art collective Tooth and Nail Gallery will host an outdoor art and hand-crafted goods market with work from more than 25 local artists. Street-food vendors will add pop-up dining to the artistic vibe.

The Fringe will also be coming to the party with the fourth stage of the Fringe Street Theatre Festival featuring performance, comedy and live music.

“While the focus during the Fringe tends to centre on the East End, there are some really varied and interesting events happening at the other end of the city and the Waymouth Street party is a great place start your West End Fringe adventure,” Stephen said.
