Some 42 years after Adelaide’s Ross McDonald revolutionised barbecuing in Australia by bringing us the first, and now iconic Weber Kettle and introducing the nation to lid down cooking, Adelaide is about to debut another first in barbecuing.
Weber Barbecues Australia is excited and proud to announce that Australia’s debut Grill Academy – located on the top level of 142 Fullarton Road, Rose Park is open and ready to welcome locals and tourists who are keen to get fired up.
With spectacular views across Victoria Park to the city, the Weber Grill Academy is a stunning event space for corporate and private events, as well as being the venue for a range of interactive Weber barbecue experiences – those for which the Grill Academies internationally are famed.
Available to everyone with a desire to develop their current level of barbecuing prowess -whether they’ve never ventured further than steak or chop, or can already turn their hand to curries, desserts and the perfect roast, the Weber Grill Academy barbecue experiences will always offer up new skill opportunities – and a number of surprises for participants – how about Weber baked pavlova!
There are currently more than 100 Grill Academies in almost 70 countries. Australia’s entry into this unique offering from the world’s most famous barbecue brand has been a long time in the planning but the result is worth the wait and is unlike any other. Though a global entity, Weber Grill Academies are each specifically designed with regionality being top of mind to cater for localisation of food culture, climate, and lifestyle.
The $1.5m development project features a huge 120m² all-weather balcony complete with the full range of Weber barbecues ready for action. From the Original Kettle, to the popular Weber Q’s, right to the top of the range Summit Series, and Weber’s newly released and debut wood fired barbecue, the SmokeFire, it truly is the most perfect setting for hosting informative, interactive, fun and exceptionally delicious events. Capacities will be adjusted as required to meet COVID restrictions and barbecue experiences are limited to around 20 guests, to ensure maximum interaction with barbecues and staff.
The adjacent indoor space with modern finishes and bifold glass doors that open the entire venue to one stunning al fresco area, is replete with full bar and catering facilities. State of the art audio visual equipment and a separate meeting room make it an ideal venue for corporate and private events, which include some level of interaction on the barbecues if desired. With business and organisations forever seeking new and interesting venues in which to impress their guests, Weber Grill Academy has already created a buzz with booking enquiries commencing almost immediately once the external signage was installed on the building.
Whilst offering an exciting, attractive, and highly functional event space, the Grill Academy’s hero product is its range of Weber barbecue class experiences which will be pitched to both the local and tourist market, with the venue celebrating South Australian beer, wine and food producers.
Just in time for summer, Weber Grill Academy will open with a variety of barbecue classes on offer. After years of listening to their customers enquiries, and with these in mind, these opportunities will allow guests to truly discover what is possible on a barbecue. As well as grilling, roasting and baking food you might expect, seasonal offerings will be featured throughout the year – look out for the Christmas barbecue entertainer’s menu, as well as specialty experiences such as the Vegetarian Barbecue.
Thoughtfully designed, each Grill Academy barbecue experience will celebrate the famous Weber flavour and showcase how easy it is to create tasty, barbecued food, and prove that there is not much you can’t cook on a Weber. The journey to becoming a backyard hero is a delicious one, and no, you do not need to own a Weber – or in fact, any barbecue at all to attend.
