We know it’s still a few months before Christmas time, but this announcement already has us singing carols!

The West End Brewery Christmas lights display is back on for 2021, according to Michael Coxon, the mayor of the West Torrens Council.

“I hope that they’ll be back on,” Coxon tells us.

“It’s not yet confirmed, but negotiations with Lion are looking like that,” he says of the brewery owner.

Although the West End Brewery will have vacated the site by then, the festive display would still go on in its place.

The beloved city fixture, which runs from late November until New Year’s Eve, features riverbank displays, a variety of stands selling food and drinks, plus a few carnival amusements for kids such as a merry-go-round and laughing clowns that take over the Thebarton site.

This announcement comes after the displays were cancelled in 2020 due to COVID-19, and after South Australia’s West End Brewery announced its closure in June, 2021.

More to come.
