COVID-19 restrictions means The West End Brewery Christmas light display, a beloved city fixture usually running from late November until New Year’s Eve, will not go ahead this year.

As well as the riverbank displays there are normally a variety of stands selling food and drinks, plus a few carnival amusements for kids such as a merry-go-round and laughing clowns that take over the Thebarton site.

In 2019, the fixture celebrated going entirely carbon neutral, ahead of its plans on the brewery becoming entirely carbon neutral in 2020.

The brewery cites social distancing measures as the reason for the cancellation but hopes to be back next year in all its fluorescent glory.

More to come.
