West End’s Christmas Riverbank Display Lights-up Tonight

The Christmas Riverbank Display on the Torrens River will run for two weeks from Monday 13 December through until Christmas night, Friday 25 December.

The beloved West End Brewery Riverbank Christmas Lights Display will light up for the season at 6:30 pm tonight.

Despite the closure of the West End Brewery the iconic city fixture is set to stay, with a series of upgrade works ensuring the attraction becomes a permanent feature of Adelaide’s Christmas calendar.

The Christmas Riverbank Display on the Torrens River will run for two weeks from Monday 13 December through until Christmas night, Friday 25 December.

Due to COVID-19 crowd management plans, entry will be for those who have pre-booked tickets only. Walk-ups will not be granted entry.

Tickets are now fully booked for time slots between 6:30 pm and 9:45 pm on each night of the display.  For those still wishing to visit the display, there are some tickets still available for 9:45 pm slots on a number of nights over the two-week period.

Tickets will ensure you and your family can spot the classic favourites including the Jack-In-The-Box, Vulcan, Moby Dick, the Ferris wheel, Wizard of Oz and the Nativity Inn.

To ensure the Christmas Riverbank Display continues into the future, Lion has completed a series of upgrade works to help ensure the much-loved tradition becomes a permanent feature on Adelaide’s Christmas calendar.

Tim Moffat, Sponsorship and Events Leader for West End, said these alterations will be geared towards assisting with the transition of ownership of the lights display to Council from 2022 onwards.

“This year, we have worked closely with Council to make many of the fixtures permanent as, without the brewery behind it, it will be difficult to store and set up some of the larger decorations in future,” Tim said.

City of West Torrens Mayor Michael Coxon said the Council was committed to ensuring the tradition continues for years to come.

“We’re proud that such an iconic event is held each year within the West Torrens area and we’re even prouder that Council will be its custodian going forward.”

West End has been working with the City of West Torrens to ensure the 62-year-old tradition – held on the Riverbank alongside the old brewery will continue to delight families for years to come.

Ticket reservations for available time slots can still be made by visiting the West End Draught website here.
