If you’re chasing the sun this weekend, steer towards Grange and you’ll stumble upon a quaint organic cafe serving up a simple but solid brunch spread that weekends were truly meant for.
The Cooks Pantry is espresso bar in style–offering a breakfast and lunch menu six days a week with a strong emphasis on coffee and patisserie. Almost everything you’ll find at the Pantry is made in-house from the bread up. Chef/Owner, James Bodroghy, says “we’ve always had a strong focus on local, organic produce” and “we’re mindful of the unnecessary additives and preservatives in our food”.
On the menu, you can expect a range of bruschettas, egg dishes, housemade gluten-free granola, quinoa bircher and a daily soup and salad (available around lunchtime). From time to time, The Cooks Pantry will host themed dinners, for example, you can join them for stunning six or seven course Moroccan-themed dinner.
To further share their passion for wholesome food, they also run weekly cooking classes. So if you’ve been looking for a way to brush up on your cooking skills, try something new or even a way to meet new people, this could be a pretty cool option. It’s an intimate class of eight to nine people set up in the open plan kitchen, starting from around 6:30pm. You’ll learn to make the dishes together, sit down to indulge in the fruits of your labour, taste test some vino and at the end of it all, you’ll even get to take home the recipes so you can continue to master the dishes at home. They’ve got classes ranging from: Spanish, Mediterranean, Balinese, Cambodian, French, Vegan food – just to name a few. Check out the upcoming classes here.
