Westfield Marion’s 45th Birthday A/W Parade

DSCF2837Marking the 45th birthday of Westfield Marion, last night’s parade went off without a hitch. What better way to celebrate in style than to gather together the fashionistas of Adelaide, the gorgeous faces of Pride Models, and plant them in the heart of Westfield Marion’s shopping complex.

Music by DJ Tink kept guests entertained as we eagerly anticipated what was to come. Adelaide Cabaret Festival’s Artistic Director, Kate Ceberano along with host, Matt Gilbertson, set the night off; introducing the faces of Pride Models, all glowing with their makeup by Inglot Cosmetics and hair by Marion Hair and Beauty.

Labels showcased for the Autumn/Winter range were CUE, Bardot, Portmans, Roger David, Kookai, Harris Scarfe and several others. The vintage inspired fashion retrospective was the perfect way to raise the temperature on a cool autumn evening.

Bow ties, trench coats with elbow patches, and printed knits were popular among the brands designed for men. Floral prints, peplum tops, tulle skirts and bodycon dresses proved to be a pattern among the feminine labels. There was a flourish of white and gold, embroidery, embellishments and jewel encrusted garments.

My favourite seasonal style was presented by Kookai. Think classic: black and grey, leather accents, fur vests, and pointy boots. Among all looks of the evening, however, the gothic romance was ultimately the most predominant. Models were covered head to toe in velvety fabrics, lace and leather, sheer detailing with black, burgundy and a little green. Religious inspiration was shown on patterned tights with crosses all over and necklaces dangling metal crosses. To sum it up, this season’s hottest looks include luxe leather, feminine florals and grungy gothic.

Guests were treated to “goody bags” filled with discount vouchers, skincare and perfume samples, Adelaide’s iconic Menz fruchocs (strawberry flavoured), and my favourite – a cupcake designed especially for the night with pink frosting and a white edible label with “Westfield Marion” printed on top. The perfect touch to a fashionable event.
