Westside brewery Yellow Matter now slinging frothies into the night

Having already established itself as a daytime haven for beer lovers in the past few months, the brewery is now extending its warm and inviting atmosphere into the night.

The new Westside hotspot Yellow Matter Brewing, a brainchild of the female-led hospitality group Sonic Yoni, is ready to elevate Adelaide’s nightlife scene.

Having already established itself as a daytime haven for beer lovers in the past few months, the brewery is now extending its warm and inviting atmosphere into the night.

Yellow Matter Brewing will now open from Monday-Friday 3:30 until late and on weekends from 12pm – late. And they’ll be slinging pizzas for the perfect after-work feed.

Janie from Sonic Yoni says “We’re finding our weekend days are such a vibe. It gives huge family-day-out feels and we love it! We then transition into nights where the lights are dimmed, the festoons are on and the pizza and beers are flowing.”

The menu, predominantly vegetarian, promises to surprise and please every palate. There’s a range of hand-stretched pizzas available, including the ‘unitato’, a delightful blend of potato, garlic butter, and fontina; or the ‘baby cheesus’, a rich mix of pecorino, mozzarella, and Danish blue.

Vegan patrons can enjoy the “ronny coot”, a vibrant mix of smoked beetroot and pomegranate molasses, topped with vegan “mozzarella”.

“The offerings are clever and considered so that we can please everyone. We also have a lot of vegan options and they’re all well thought out and delicious!” Janie adds.

And if you’re not in the mood to get dressed up, all the pizzas are available for takeaway for just $15 from Wednesday to Sunday between 3:30pm and 8pm. And they also sell squealers, so your Friday night at home is SORTED.

Designed by the renowned architectural firm Studio Gram, the brewery, housed in the old council depot buildings, offers a unique blend of modern aesthetics and mid-century influences. The space, characterized by warm colour palettes and carefully selected furnishings, evokes the feeling of a casual gathering at a close friend’s place, now not just under the sun, but under the stars as well.

But there’s more on the horizon.

“We now have 150 seats and are able to accommodate big groups really easily. We will be introducing a whole heap of events and collaborations into the mix as well as pool tournaments with our beloved custom-designed pool table and of course, brewery tours. The venue was intended to lend itself to multi-faceted uses and we are so excited about the scope of opportunity here. It’s endless.”

But at the heart of all the beers, the pizzas, and the epic aesthetics is community.

Janie encapsulates this sentiment perfectly, “The community is so strong over here, we just want to foster it.”
