Westside Mushies founder expands his exotic mushroom kingdom to Royal Park with the development of his new facility.

Previously based in Henley Beach, the mushroom operation started in June 2020 when founder Adam Bray, started exploring mushroom growing across textbooks and Youtube channels.

After purchasing a home growing kit and managing to cultivate pink oyster mushrooms from his bedroom, Bray began to contact growers across Australia for advice on how to upscale the growth of his products.

This new facility gives Bray the opportunity to start selling mushrooms to home cooks and allows him to provide additional supplies to some of the most popular eateries in Adelaide.

The new location will also allow customers to choose and buy harvested-to-order mushrooms, and even includes a classroom where he can pass on his methods.

Adelaide eateries Bloom, Sol Rooftop and Topiary are vocal supporters of the local mushie growers scene, featuring many of Bray’s products across their menus.

Westside Mushies’ offers chefs and local Adelaideans coral tooth, lion’s mane, pioppino, oyster and other rarer mushroom varieties, all with low food miles.

His ability to reduce the amount of time his product moves from “farm” to plate is matched by his efforts to reduce packaging and handling of his premium products.

Bray delivers his products within hours of being harvested and without styrofoam packaging, and most recently, free of plastic.

His mission to create a more sustainable way to produce his produce has the local urban farmer exploring glass packaging as a substitute to the plastic he was using.

Popularity of his product has increased rapidly with the development of his new facility and his weekly production of mushrooms can land anywhere between 60 and 70 kilos of mushrooms.

The carnivore converter is eager to bring the magic of mushrooms to more homes across South Australia.
