Who remembers the 1998 cinematic-flop-come-VHS-hit ‘A Night At The Roxbury’? The crowning achievement of Will Ferrell’s career (with an 11% Rotten Tomatoes rating, it is by far the best thing he has ever done), this story of simpletons hinges on one beautiful idea – “What if you could create a club where the outside is on the inside… and the inside is on the outside?”
Well Adelaide, get set to see this outstanding stroke of genius realised through the glorious ingenuity of the Cellar Door Fest, coming to the Adelaide Convention Centre at the end of this month.
Now, hold your mobile device nice and close and let us set the scene – 180 of the state’s finest producers; wine flowing like Waterfall Gully after a soaking winter rains alongside mountains of cheese and cured meats that is a romance to leave you blocked up for days. Then there are the mouth-watering freshly prepared meals made by people who have been going steady with local produce from long before hipsters took quinoa to cafes. And finally in the middle of it all a veritable oasis of trees, fresh flowers and lush grass, concealing an intimate garden of beer and cider brewers.
Here at Glam we have affectionately named it ‘The Garden Of Brewed Delights’ and they’ve spared no expense in literally transplanting live foliage and flora indoors for your atmospheric pleasure. Taking lessons from that big gumtree that used to be inside Burnside Village (RIP), no vegetation will be at risk in the making of this indoor wonder-park where you can enjoy a hoppy pint from the likes of Pirate Life or Vale Brewing, or perhaps a fiery pint from the Prancing Pony crew, or even the tart apple tastes of Lobo or The Barossa Valley Cider Co. Spread yourself out along the beer-hall style seating and breathe in the air of traditional pub fare on offer.
There’s even going to be a water fountain. How’s that for serenity?!
