Cheeky Grin Coffee is a Firle-based coffee shop that has become renowned for slinging mouth-watering beans and sweet treats, served up with relaxed vibes and a cheeky grin.
Pouring over their delicious, caffeinated menu and you find all the classics. From your long blacks, to your macchiatos, to your flat whites and your mochas. But, with the help of Willow Blend, there’s something else, too.
The magic coffee. Mystery surrounds it. But now that it’s arrived in Adelaide, it’s time to ask… what the heck is it?

Technically, the magic coffee is a double ristretto with steamed milk. Which is an answer that, I assume, raises more questions than answers.
Let’s start with the ristretto. We all know the humble espresso; a 30ml shot of water diluted which has been forced through fine grounds for around 30 seconds. The ristretto, however, is brewed using a different water to coffee ratio.
In layman’s terms, it’s the same amount of coffee, but uses much less water and a shorter extraction time. So you get a 15-20ml shot, and a concentrated, robust flavour.
Cheeky Grin’s owner Stefan Iannace says that people are curious, and are loving it.
“We’re educating people about the magic coffee. It’s a really good alternative to your standard double shot.” he said.
And it’s a good place to try it; not least because Cheeky Grin uses Willow Blend beans, creating a mouthwateringly smooth point of difference. It’s the brand that’s all about coffee and community. Proudly South Australian owned and operated, Willow Blend roasts up a storm using high-quality, ethically sourced South American beans.

Ben Pankhurst is the man, the mastermind and founder of Willow Bend Coffee who started this local gem after noticing a gap in the Adelaide’s coffee market. They wanted to taste the coffee flavour through the milk in their coffee, and so created Willow Blend to bring a range of coffee blends that are smooth to drink as a black, yet still strong enough to taste through milk.
Which makes it the perfect beans to try the famous magic coffee.
The magic coffee was born in Melbourne (because of course it was). With a thriving caffeine scene, and expert baristas, it was a natural creation. And one that has coffee lovers drooling.
And Cheeky Grin’s coffee has a delicious point of difference, too, because they use Willow Blend coffee beans.
So where can you get this delicious concoction? Cheeky Grin will be slinging magic at their bricks and mortar store in Firle, and from their van which will be rocking up at weddings, events and functions all over the state.
Cheeky Grin Coffee prides themselves on creating a family-like community and a place where you can come to brighten up your day. This year, it was once again named ‘Best Coffee’ in the East Side Business Awards.
Now that’s magic.
