The 2024 McLaren Vale Grenache & Gourmet Festival has kicked off, and will run until October 7th, offering a variety of delicious food and wine experiences. This annual event celebrates local Grenache wines and gourmet food, starting just in time for International Grenache Day in McLaren Vale on the Fleurieu Peninsula.
This year’s festival features a new lineup of dining experiences that focus on locally sourced ingredients from the Fleurieu Peninsula, paired expertly with exquisite Grenache wines. Each meal aims to take diners on a journey from paddock to plate, and grape to glass.
The festival also offers a range of exclusive tastings and masterclasses, providing an opportunity to explore the different expressions of Grenache. These events cater to both beginners and wine connoisseurs, offering insights into the vibrant and complex profiles of Grenache wines from the region. The masterclasses and tastings give guests a deeper understanding of the local terroir, and the versatility of this popular grape variety.
For those looking for a more relaxed experience, the festival hosts a variety of gatherings that combine excellent food, fine wine, and good company in a laid-back setting. These events celebrate the coastal culture of McLaren Vale, known for its friendly atmosphere and scenic landscapes.
Some great events in this year’s programme include the Duck & Grenache Prix Fixe lunch series, Angove Blanc et Noir, Aphelion Giro di Pasta at Varney Wines, and the Grenache Masterclass at Serafino. There will also be unique activities like Sip and Snap at Red Poles, Grenache & Groove at Blewitt Springs Wine Co and Grenache in the Deep South at Shingleback.
Among the featured attractions is musician Alex Lloyd performing to an intimate audience at BigEasyRadio to celebrate ‘Amazing McLaren Vale Grenache’. The festival will also see new, current, and back vintage tastings across many venues.
With over 30 events to choose from, spanning from family-friendly events, to live music, masterclasses, lunches, dinners, fireside tastings, sip and snap events and more, this Spring festival is one not to miss!
