What’s On In Adelaide This Australia Day

This Wednesday 26 January is Australia Day – the day we celebrate what’s great about Australia and being an Aussie.

Glam have put together a list of great Australia Day events happening around Adelaide for you and your family or friends to head along to and celebrate the Aussie way!

Australia Day Parade

Make your way to Hindmarsh Square at 6pm on Australia Day to watch the Australia Day Parade, featuring giant characters, floats, marching bands and roving performers alongside proud Aussie’s waving the Australian Flag.

The Parade starts at 6pm in Hindmarsh Square before making its way to Elder Park.

Australia Day Concert

Head to Elder Park after the Australia Day Parade to watch Aussie singing superstar Jessica Mauboy amongst many other Australian artists perform at the Australia Day Concert. Last year’s concert was huge and this year’s promises to be bigger and better! For more information click here.

One-Day International Cricket

What better way to celebrate Australia Day than heading to Adelaide Oval for the fourth One Day International of the Commonwealth Bank Series. Soak up the sun whilst cheering on the Aussies as they verse England. Gates open at noon.

6th Annual Havaianas Australia Day Thong Challenge

Australia Day is set to be a warm, Summer day – perfect for the beach! Head down to Glenelg Beach for the 6th Annual Havaianas Australia Day Thong Challenge. Last year saw 875 participants joined end to end in the ocean on their inflatable thongs, and the time has come again to rise to the challenge and prove South Australia is the best. Triple J Hottest 100 Party at The Austral

There is nothing more Australian than sitting back with friends and family on Australia Day, having a few beers while listening to some great music. The Austral is hosting a Triple J Hottest 100 party with drink specials all day. To celebrate in true Australian style, The Austral will be giving away Adelaide Hills cider from 10am-11am. Queensland Flood Relief Fundraiser at The Highway

Inspired by Sunrise, this year’s Australia Day is a fundraiser for the Queensland flood victims. The Highway are donating a gold coin entry fee and money from every They Yalumba Wine Company, Diageo and SA Brewing product sold.
The Highway Hotel is now a drop off point for Edmund Rice Camps (SA) Inc Shoe Boxes of Love for Queenslanders. Come together on Australia Day and help raise much need $$ for those affected by this disaster.
