When Baby Boomers And Generation X Team Up For Comedy, You Get A Potentially Volatile Combination

Living with decades of change, identity crises and bewilderment, The Petty Four premiere their first show, Mid Laugh Crisis at Fringe.

From being sandwiched between ‘The Greatest Generation’ and the ‘Millennials’, and living with decades of constant change, identity crises and a healthy dose of bewilderment, The Petty Four have emerged to premiere their first show, Mid Laugh Crisis at the 2016 Adelaide Fringe.

When Boomers Nikki Fort and Maggie Wood team up with GenXers Kim Clark and Andrew Le Roy as The Petty Four, for a feast of comedy and song, you get a montage of mirth that hits the funny bone of a vast proportion of the population.

“People love to see their lives reflected back to them through comedy. It gives perspective and validation that’s often missing for the over-35s,” said Maggie.

Working together since 2014, The Petty Four bring a wealth of experience, broad perspectives and wry humour to their comedy and singing.

Kim said, “It’s a unique mix of stand-up comedy and acapella singing, where we address some of the challenges of maturing in an increasingly immature world.”

The group members come from diverse backgrounds,” explains Andrew.

We’ve been involved in many different disciplines including theatre, music, film, broadcasting and writing, as well as comedy.”

Nikki added, “We bring all of that together to produce a very entertaining and engaging show.”

When asked to describe the group’s flavour, comments included, “Classier than a meat pie, yet not quite cordon bleu,” and “A stand up version of Manhattan Transfer, without the Manhattan.”

With a combined 105 years’ experience in performance The Petty Four know how to please an audience.

See them perform the world premiere of Mid Laugh Crisis at The Jade Monkey during the 2016 Adelaide Fringe on Saturday 20 February, Friday 4 March and Sunday 6 March. Tickets available from Fringetix
