Where to celebrate World Oyster Day this Friday

August 5th marks World Oyster Day and many Adelaide eateries are celebrating! From oyster shots to $1 shucks, see how you can get your fix.

“It was a bold man who first ate an oyster” – Jonathon Swift.

But let’s all thank him for doing so. Humans have a long love affair with oysters dating back to Roman times when the now delicacy was the main choice of protein due to its low price point and stellar nutritional profile.

Nowadays, oysters are still a much-loved, albeit divisive, food so much so that it has earned itself an International Day of Recognition. August 5th marks World Oyster Day. A day where we celebrate the humble mollusc and there are a number of places to do so around Adelaide this weekend.

OYSTER FEST | SEAN’S KITCHEN

For the whole month of August, Sean’s Kitchen is hosting its annual Oyster Fest. With a special oyster-based menu starring a Nashville Hot Fried Oyster Roll, vodka oyster shots, and the one buck shuck (yes that means $1 oysters) this is the ultimate celebration with all produce coming from one of the many incredible South Australian oyster farmers.
