Where to recycle your used beauty products in Adelaide

Recycling beauty waste may seem confusing, but TerraCycle has made it a breeze. Find out how to recycle your beauty products the right way in Adelaide.

Did you know that beauty products are notoriously difficult to recycle? Most packaging is comprised of multiple different materials and is often rejected in ordinary curb-side pick up recycling, ending up in landfills.

To ensure you are disposing of your beauty waste in an eco-friendly way, we have put together this list to take all the guess work out for you.

Many businesses have now partnered with global recycling giants TerraCycle, meaning that recycling your beauty items has now never been easier. Keep reading to find out which beauty retailers offer TerraCycle.

Please note that nail polishes, old makeup brushes, wooden makeup pencils (like eye liners and lip liners), perfumes, aerosols, and products that aren’t completely emptied are not accepted by TerraCycle. For more information on this, check out their website.

Priceline

Just earlier this month, the pharmacy chain announced that they have partnered with Maybelline and TerraCycle to make recycling your beauty products even easier. All Priceline stores will now have recycling bins where you can dump your used beauty products from any brand. As an incentive, they are offering 50 Bonus Sister Club points every month when you recycle your makeup empties.  They are even happy to take care of the cleaning process for you, they just ask that the product be completely emptied before being dropped of at a recycling station.

They accept products from all brands, not just the brands stocked in Mecca. Once their collection station is filled, TerraCycle will come to collect the items and dispose of them the right way. Fun fact, in Mecca’s trail period for this recycling program, over 1000KG of beauty waste was collected. Thats 10,240 empty products properly recycled and diverted from landfill.
