Whiskey, wine, and art come to Glenelg this winter

The Stamford Grand Adelaide is hosting whiskey, wine and cocktail experiences this winter, as well as a month-long art exhibition.

From whiskey to wine and everything in between, there are plenty of immersive winter experiences worth checking out this season at Glenelg.

The Promenade Restaurant is currently hosting an Art Gallery Exhibition throughout July, showcasing outstanding works and live art demonstrations.

With a glass of house sparkling on arrival and a chef’s selection of canapes, Art at The Promenade wouldn’t be a bad way to spend a Friday night.

This Friday, watch as Walmajarri artist, Tasman Tjapaltjarri, creates stunning pieces which reflect his family’s strong and inherited connection to country. With direct family ties with the Mullen and Balgo communities of Western Australia, Tasman’s work features important references to his community’s Dreamtime stories.

Next Friday, Mirning and Kokotha woman, Nancy Lawrie, will also use her artistic talents to depict stories of her country and history, passed down through the generations.

Finally, on the 29July, mixed media artist Dianne Carver will demonstrate her 40 years of art and painting experience for guests with an interest in oil painting, acrylic, and resin.

Beyond art, there are also whiskey, wine, and espresso martini experiences to explore.

Hindmarsh Valley-based distillery, Cut Hill Distillery, is making the journey down to the Horizons Cocktail Lounge to host an evening of perfectly crafted whiskey and fine dining.

Created by Executive Chef Darren Greenwood, the menu boasts warm winter flavours such as charcoal grilled lamb with port wine glaze, and pumpkin and ginger pie with cinnamon spiced maple syrup.

Each course comes with a specially paired beverage, brewed in a wine, fortified, mead or “special barrel” cask. Also hear from a Cut Hill Distillery’s brand ambassador, who will discuss Cut Hill’s whiskey-making process and how different varietals are paired with food.

For the wine lovers out there, the Promenade Restaurant is hosting a ‘Meet the Marker’ food and wine experience with Bremerton Wines.

Owners and winemakers of Bremerton Wines, Lucy and Rebecca Willson, will discuss their wine-making process and how best to enjoy Bremerton flavours with food.

The chat will be accompanied with a 5-course menu, featuring Smoky Bay Oysters, Lobster Pot Pie, Wagyu beef sliders, beef cheeks, and a vanilla custard tart with Chantilly cream and preserved peaches.

Finally, the Horizons Cocktail Lounge will be hosting one more winter experience – an ultimate Espresso Martini masterclass. Follow Horizons’ head bartender, as they demonstrate how to make the perfect Espresso Martini, made with a myriad of spirits.

Participants will be able to create and sample everything from a classic espresso martini to a coca coffetini and smokatini, accompanied with an almond and hazelnut biscotti, ricotta cheesecake, and more decadent treats.
