The Christmas spirit will envelop Rundle Mall all November and December enchanting locals and tourists with the sight of the precinct’s new decorations and engaging them through an exciting social hub of entertainment and activity.

“Our vision for this festive season was to create a city transformed by colour, activity and light,” said Rundle Mall Management Authority (RMMA) General Manager, Amanda Grocock. “With the Mall as our backdrop, we want to capture the heart and nostalgia of Christmas to celebrate the season in Adelaide.”

“Our installations are not just about enhancing the shopping experience, they’re about creating the buzz of Christmas for people who live and work in the city and visit the Mall during this time. “

“The precinct sits at the heart of the CBD, and by bringing the Mall to life, we will see a flow on effect across the city that will see the true spirit of Christmas return to Adelaide by day and by night.”

This year, visitors will be immersed by Rundle Mall’s ‘Festive Forest’, consisting of over 150 real pine trees adorned with lights and decorations and spread across three zones. Large format Christmas lettering will also appear to form festive words that capture the Christmas spirit, while customised bunting in metallic gold and red will glisten in the sun and sparkle at night above shoppers on the Mall’s permanent lighting fixtures.

For the first time, the RMMA has also commissioned internationally renowned artist, Kelsey Montague, to create two captivating art installations to inspire and delight visitors. One piece will showcase Montague’s signature angel wing design and be located at the Gawler Place Canopy. The second will be a Christmas dove piece located in the food court of Adelaide Central Plaza.

A custom made ‘Festive Workshop’ will fill the centre of the Precinct and offer visitors a variety of fun Christmas workshops, product samplings and activities in collaboration with Rundle Mall retailers. Each Friday night the Propaganda Christmas Club will activate, offering signature cocktails, food and music for late night shoppers. By day, the ‘Mighty Mighty Merry Café’ will offer a range of delicious, locally sourced coffee and treats including Mighty Mighty coffee, sweat treats from Sucre patisserie, Nagev and Gelista.

Ms Grocock said the Mall’s Christmas transformation would diversify the Precinct’s offering across the Christmas period to provide festive moments for people of all ages and backgrounds.

“It was important for us to ensure we bring the Christmas experience to life for all visitors to the Mall, and also support the over 1,000 businesses which reside in the Mall during the key retail period,” Ms Grocock said.
Rundle Mall will become the city’s true home of Christmas in South Australia and will support Adelaide City Council’s Christmas in the City program by bringing the Precinct to life this season.
