Who Owns The Online Travel Booking Sites You’re Using

To help Aussie businesses during this period, avoid using international travel booking sites, and instead book directly, or use local travel agencies.

During a time where spending locally is increasingly important, and supporting South Australian and Australian businesses, is a simple way to help get our economy back on its feet, make sure you know where your dollars are going.

Many of the popular travel websites we all know and love, are actually owned by international companies.

This graphic has been shared widely on social media lately, and highlights the importance finding local companies to support.

There are plenty of ways to support local, when booking your holiday, and the most simple way you can help Australian companies, is to book direct.

Like UberEats and other convenience-based businesses, a percentage of your bill, goes to the website or app that you book through, meaning the business you’re buying from, gets a reduced amount of profit.

If you’re taking a holiday in SA, or interstate, try booking the hotel, B&B or destination directly through their own website. Sometimes it’s even cheaper than the booking sites, and 100% of the profit goes to that local business.

Alternatively, if you’re looking for convenience and don’t want the running around, try using a local travel agent to help you out, as you’ll be helping to keep those businesses afloat as well.
