With footy season nearing its close for another year, Adelaide Oval is tee-ing up for their next big event: Stadium Golf.
After the huge success of the inaugural event last year, Adelaide Oval will be transforming their grounds once again into a golfer’s paradise, open to both the general public and corporate groups.
For this event, Adelaide Oval is set to become a nine-hole golf course, where both groups and individuals can enjoy a day of big swings, fresh air and friendly competition.
Participants can play in groups of up to four people, and will be provided with a personal caddie and all necessary equipment as they make their way around the course.
Players will tee off from all corners of Adelaide Oval’s stadium, including hitting through the AFL goal posts.
Adelaide Oval SMA General Manager Operations & Commercial Darren Chandler says he’s thrilled to see the event’s return to the Oval.
“The feedback from the inaugural event was overwhelmingly positive and we found participants loved experiencing Adelaide Oval’s truly unique setting in a whole new way,” Chandler says.
“Stadium Golf offers a fun day out for friends or colleagues looking to play in groups, but is also appealing to those with a more competitive streak, with our new live leader board keeping score throughout each round and over the week.”
Speaking of a competitive streak, Australian Golf Digest is partnering with Adelaide Oval to offer a $250,000 prize for amateur golfers with an accurate stroke.
“Amateurs who score a hole-in-one throughout the week will be invited back at the conclusion of the event to take another swing on the 105m hole,” Australian Golf Digest’s Managing Director Nick Cutler says.
“If they hit another hole-in-one, the lucky golfer will walk away with a quarter of a million dollars!”
There will be a wide range of other awards up for grabs, including best female golfer, best male golfer, best junior golfer, and best team.
Adelaide Oval’s Audi Stadium Club will also be transformed into the Clubhouse to host both a Clubhouse Putt and Longest Drive competition, as well as offering plenty of delicious food and beverages to energise each golfer.
Cutler is certain that this year’s event will be a ‘hole’ lot of fun and, with limited spots available, people had better get in fast.
Stadium Golf will run from the 5 – 12 October. Play will commence daily at 7am and conclude at 8:45pm.
