Wine and dine with iconic Jim Barry Wines

One of the most outstanding South Australian Wine Dinners of 2013 is just around the corner with the Jim Barry Wine Dinner on the 28th August at the National Wine Centre.

The dinner will be a special opportunity for the general public, who may not have had the chance to attend a function at the National Wine Centre, to experience firsthand its award-winning offering, and all while getting up close and personal to one of the State’s best known winemakers, Tom Barry (pictured below). Tom is third generation winemaker at his family’s iconic winery – Jim Barry Wines!

Tom will personally host the Jim Barry Wine Dinner set in the stunning National Wine Centre – The Vines room. Tickets sell for $110 each and include a four course meal from multi-award winning Executive Chef Philip Pope, perfectly matched to six exclusive wines.

tom barryTom’s grandfather Jim Barry was a pioneer of the Australian wine industry. In fact Jim was the first qualified winemaker to work in the Clare Valley of South Australia and with his wife, Nancy, built a successful wine business which has produced trophy-winning wines since its establishment in 1959. Today, the company is headed by Jim’s second son Peter, who took over from his father as Managing Director and the wine is crafted by his son Tom.

The 2013 Wine Dinners will comprise of a series of eight events:-

Jim Barry Wines of Clare Valley, hosted by Tom Barry – Wednesday 28th of August from 6.30pm

Jim Barry Wines’ philosophy is fundamental to the company’s ability to consistently produce wines of the highest quality which have won international recognition.

 

Tscharke of Barossa Valley, hosted by Damien Tscharke – Wednesday 25th of September from 6.30pm

Tscharke wines are handcrafted and sourced from the Tscharke Family Vineyards which have been farmed by the Tscharke family for generations.

 

Katnook Estate of Coonawarra, hosted by Wayne Stehbens – Wednesday 16th of October from 6.30pm

Katnook Estate make wines which show subtlety, intrigue and complexity. Reflecting the essence of Coonawarra’s terroir is integral to Wayne Stehbens’ winemaking approach.
