Thorn-Clarke’s cellar door boasts a spectacular view of the Little Para River and the rolling vineyards of the Barossa and despite being relatively young winemakers (their first wines were released in 2001), the Thorn-Clarke family have had six generations involved in the Barossan wine industry.
But now when you visit their cellar door, your day can consist of a tasting through a comprehensive selection of their wines (entry to premium) and afterwards a glass (or a bottle) of wine overlooking the vineyards.Complemented by a platter that features a fearsome foursome, cheese from the Barossa Cheese company, meat from Linke’s Butchers, fruit from Gully Gardens and spreads from Hutton Vale.
The newest addition fits perfectly in that timeline, as you’re enjoying the feed, is a healthy effort at a hole in one. There are two barrels to aim for and if you succeed you’ll be rewarded with a free bottle of wine!
Things to remember before heading to Thorn-Clarke for a visit are that tastings for groups under 10 are free but anything above is $5 per person and that they also do advise that you book for platters. The golf, however, is perfect for a walk in visitor.DETAILS Opening hours: Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm, Saturday to Sunday, 11am – 4pm Where: 266 Gawler Park Road, Angaston Contact: 08 8564 3036
