A new collective space is set to pop up in the CBD this week, highlighting a combination of a cellar door, florist, aperitif options, and more all under one roof.
Wine Flowers is a collaborative wine bar concept between winery Commune of Buttons, sustainable retailer Ensemble Studios and plant stylist Emma Sadie Thomson.
Wine Flowers will be popping up on Pirie Street from December 4th to the 21st, highlighting a range of products from different producers. Supported by Renew Adelaide, the venue has been designed as a mix between a retail and bar space so guests can look forward to wine tastings paired with nibbles, alongside Ensemble’s curated retail selection of homewares, gifts, indoor plants, local art, gardening tools, and more from local designers. The space will also offer a small selection of freshly picked flowers from their market flower garden.
Adelaide Hills wine makers, Ochota Barrels will have their holistic wines on offer. The business was born in late 2000 on a surf trip along the Mexican west coast, and ever since Ochota Barrels has been producing wines free from nasties from both the Adelaide Hills and McLaren Vale regions.
Basket Range Wines will also be available. From the minds of Phil and Mary Broderick, at Basket Range Wines there’s a focus on their organically grown vines producing Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Petit Verdot, and Saperavi.
Commune of Buttons is showcasing its wines. Once again from the cool climate of the Adelaide Hills wine region, the winemakers began their journey in 2012 and have used organic practices to grow their vines and make their wines ever since.
Hailing from McLaren Flat, Borachio strives to make wines with energy and finesse, with equally fun labels to match. All of their wines are made without any additions or subtractions.
Joining this fantastic lineup of wines are fresh floral arrangements from Emma Sadie Thomson, and curated gifts from Ensemble Studios.
Each of these businesses has a keen focus on sustainability and wholesome living. Wine Flowers is a perfect spot to check out what these businesses have to offer, all in one convenient location.
To celebrate the opening Wine Flowers are throwing an exciting launch party with the team at Pirate Life. Taste, enjoy, and buy wines from the fantastic producers involved, or pick up a bunch of fresh blooms and browse the range of thoughtfully curated goods.
Kicking off at 5pm, where guests can receive a complimentary beer from Pirate Life or explore the selection of soft drinks from Halls Drinks.
This event is hosted by Renew Adelaide, a non-profit that activates vacant spaces with unique ventures. The organisation have worked throughout the precinct, particularly along Pirie Street, to offer emerging business concepts rent-free access to vacant buildings. Through Renew Adelaide, entrepreneurs have the opportunity to test and trial their concept in the city with support from the Adelaide Economic Development Agency (AEDA).
Whilst the Wine Flowers pop-up will only activate the space for three weeks, Renew Adelaide intend to grow that space over time for long-term activation, and collaboratively help to make the streets of our city a more vibrant exciting place to be.
The party is located in the store at shop 6/189 Pirie Street and tickets are free.
Whether you’re searching for a new wine, fresh flowers, or thoughtful gifts, Wine Flowers is the perfect spot to celebrate South Australian producers this holiday season.
