WOMADelaide 2013 Surpasses Previous Year’s Ticket Sales

womadelaideWOMADelaide organisers have reported that over the past few days the festival’s daily ticket sales have been 12% ahead of those for the same period last year.  With consistently strong sales since the program was announced in October, WOMADelaide 2013 (8-11 March, Botanic Park), is looking to be one of the best-attended festivals to date.

General ticket sales have been tracking higher than any previous year, with the majority of ticket buyers purchasing three or four day passes rather than single day passes.

Director, Ian Scobie, is delighted with the way tickets are moving and advises that a number of days over the weekend could potentially sell out.

“We’re delighted to surpass last year’s sales and look toward to another bumper festival in 2013.” he said.

”It’s a testament to its strength that, 21 years after it began, WOMADelaide remains one of the most popular events on the Australian music and cultural calendar.”

WOMADelaide is encouraging patrons to purchase their tickets online ahead of the festival to avoid missing out on some of the major acts playing one-off shows, as WOMADelaide 2013 could sell out – there is particularly high demand for Friday (The Cat Empire) and Saturday (Hugh Masekela) – but with Jimmy Cliff and Salif Keita on Sunday and Goran Bregovic on Monday, patrons are assured of an action-packed long weekend ahead.

Tickets are available via the website at and, pending sales in the coming days, for purchase at the gate over the festival weekend.
