Set to present its most diverse lineup yet in 2025, WOMADelaide have announced their second official lineup, adding 25 incredible international musical acts to an already impressive roster. Included in the line up are international stars Yemi Alade, Protoje & The Indiggnation, and Digable Planets.
Set for for March 7th to 10th, 2025, Adelaide’s Botanic Park/Tainmuntilla will once again be set ablaze by an entire weekend’s worth of global music and culture at WOMADelaide.
Yemi Alade, often hailed as the Queen of Afropop, joins the lineup from Nigeria. Her musical style integrates an array of genres including Afropop, dancehall, and rumba. Alade has earned global recognition with two MTV African Music awards and multiple other international nominations, marking her influence on the global music scene.
Adding to the international flavour, Protoje & The Indiggnation from Jamaica will showcase their unique blend of reggae and dancehall. Protoje has been instrumental in the reggae revival movement and has collaborated with global artists like Alicia Keys and Jorja Smith. His participation in WOMADelaide 2025 expects to attract reggae enthusiasts from around the world.
From the United States, the hip-hop trio Digable Planets will perform their seminal album ‘Blowout Comb’ at the festival. Known for their jazz-infused hip-hop style, their performance is set to be a highlight, providing fans with a taste of 90s nostalgia mixed with timeless musical sophistication.
The festival also shines a spotlight on emerging talents and unique international acts. Notable additions include Bess Atwell from the UK and Nana Benz du Togo from Togo, who blends ceremonial music with modern electronic beats. Canadian artist Elisapie will bring a connection to her indigenous roots through a performance infused with the cultural and environmental essence of her home in Nunavik, Quebec.
The London duo O. promises an explosive mix of jazz and metal, while DJ Sofia Kourtesis from Peru, now based in Berlin, will bring a fusion of Latin American rhythms and Berlin club beats. Australian talents are also well-represented, including DEVAURA from Sydney/Eora, blending her Kiwi and Australian heritage in her music exploring themes of resilience and identity.
The Central Australian Aboriginal Women’s Choir is set to enchant audiences with a mix of baroque and indigenous music, singing in Western Arrarnta and Pitjantjatjara languages.
Enhancing the festival’s commitment to Australian music development, WOMADelaide’s partnership with Northern Sound System Academy will feature performances by emerging artists Bousta and Meena De Silva.
French street theatre group ilotopie will return to Adelaide after a long hiatus with a performance that combines surreal visual arts and live interaction. Additionally, actor Tilda Cobham-Hervey’s ‘Dear Stranger’ aims to engage festival-goers in a meaningful exchange of stories and letters.
Culinary delights will be aplenty at Sanctuary Restaurant, where Executive Chef Jamie Musgrave will craft dishes that highlight Australia’s native ingredients and culinary heritage, all set against the picturesque backdrop of Botanic Park/Tainmuntilla.
