In a history first progression, South Australia’s Shadow Cabinet is made up of 50% women.

Leader of the Opposition, Peter Malinauskas took to Facebook to share the news, harkening back to the 1894 Constitutional Amendment that granted women the right to vote in elections.

The amendment made SA the first electorate in the world to provide equal political rights to men and women.

“Achieving this milestone has taken way too long, but I’m proud my diverse and talented team is the first to achieve it,” he states.
