If you’re Adelaide born-and-bred, chances are that if you cast your mind back, you’ll probably remember a school or Scout camp at Woodhouse Activity Centre in Piccadilly. You can, can’t you?
If you weren’t so lucky, let me tell you what it’s all about.

Woodhouse specialises in creating exceptional, memorable experiences through outdoor experiences, encouraging visitors and guests to re-live their childhood and immerse themselves into the old-school camp experience.
But whilst school camps have been a highlight of the Woodhouse offering since 1957 (and continue today), there’s so much more to discover and love about this iconic Adelaide Hills property.
Whether you’re visiting for the day or settling in for an overnight adventure, you can expect memorable screen-free fun for the whole family. There’s plenty of room to spread out on the 54-hectare bushland property, just 25 minutes from Adelaide.
It’s the ultimate getaway experience where everyone is welcome.

During your time at Woodhouse, you can climb, crawl, swing and splash your way through more than 30 obstacles on Challenge Hill, tackle The Labyrinth giant split-level maze, slide down two epic tube slides, conquer the ultimate outdoor multi-dimensional bouldering challenge, explore the property on one of the orienteering courses or photo hunts, or have a round of disc golf (think golf with a frisbee).
While the Day Adventure pass is a great option for a full day of outdoor adventure activities, make a weekend of it by taking advantage of a great range of accommodation options – all of which include adventure activities from 9am on the day of arrival to 5pm on the day of departure.

Families and groups of friends love their chalets perfect for four people, and there’s plenty of room on their unpowered camping fields to pitch a tent or pull up your van. Campers have use of basecamps with hot showers and plenty of BBQs.
Woodhouse provides a safe and convenient space for the experienced camper, or those just starting out. With a Camping Adventure pass you don’t need to vacate your site until 5pm so there’s no rushing to pack up the tent!

If you love the idea of camping but not all the packing or setting up the tent then hire one of Woodhouse’s great new bell tents for an affordable family-friendly glamping experience. They’ll provide some camping essentials so you only need to worry about sleeping gear, clothes, food and cooking items.
Your bell tent hire (minimum two nights) includes mattresses, chairs, a table and private barbecue (plus a private fire drum outside bushfire danger season). You’ll have access to a nearby basecamp for awesome bathrooms.

All accommodation at Woodhouse is designed to encourage couples and families to unplug from electronic devices and reconnect with nature – and each other!
In the evenings, you can stroll the property to spot wildlife (koalas almost guaranteed, and kangaroos often sighted), and maybe partake in a round of ‘storm the lantern’ in the forest.

Outside of fire danger season (May to November) campfires are a highlight of staying overnight at Woodhouse. There are several large fire pits for shared use and some half-barrel drums if you’re looking for something more private. Bags of wood, fire-starter packs and marshmallows are available for purchase.
The cafes, pubs and restaurants of Stirling, Crafers, Piccadilly and Uraidla are all within a ten-minute drive so it’s easy to pop out for a meal or even your morning coffee.
This could be the easiest camping trip ever! You may even become a camping convert.
