Woodhouse Activity Centre has launched its very own version of glamping, but with a twist. Instead of bell-tents filled with scatter cushions, throw rugs and some peace and quiet, it boasts an affordable option for couples and families looking to get adventurous.
Woodhouse is known for its specialty in creating exceptional, memorable experiences through outdoor fun.
The key is to unplug from electronic devices and reconnect with nature – and each other.
On the picturesque 54-hectare property in Piccadilly (Adelaide Hills), only 25 minutes from Adelaide, the getaway provides the opportunity to re-live childhood memories. It’s home to an epic obstacle course, a giant split-level maze, waterless waterslides (running weekends and most public holidays), Frisbee golf, bouldering, laser skirmish and the list goes on.
Besides fun activities, Woodhouse also sits among the relaxing and rejuvenating gum trees, right where your glamping tent is located
While the glamping tents might be basic, the bell-shaped designs are beautiful set against the backdrop of tangerine coloured sunsets, crackling seasonal campfires and lush green Australian gums.
The best part? You don’t have to set up anything. They come with all of the camping essentials like mattresses, chairs, a table and private barbecue. They even provide private fire drums outside bushfire danger season (May to November) and you can BYO fire supplies or purchase campfire essentials at Woodhouse including bags of wood, fire-starter packs and marshmallows.
You’ll also have access to a nearby basecamp for bathrooms (with hot showers), plus all included adventure activities on offer from 9am on day of arrival to 5pm on day of departure.
In the evenings, you can stroll the property to spot wildlife (koalas almost guaranteed, and kangaroos often sighted), and maybe partake in a round of ‘storm the lantern’ in the forest.
The cafes, pubs and restaurants of Stirling, Crafers, Piccadilly and Uraidla are all within a ten-minute drive so it’s easy to pop out for a meal or even your morning coffee.
It’s a great location to escape for a weekend and enjoy what’s in our state’s backyard, for an affordable price.
Standard pricing is $260 per tent and covers up to 4 people for 2 nights (including activities). Additional nights can be booked at $130 per night. The tent will comfortably fit up to 6 guests, with additional guests charged at $32.50 per person per night (no charge for kids under five).
