Happy Valley residents have a new reason to head outdoors with the recent opening of the upgraded Woodswallow Reserve.

Spearheaded by the City of Onkaparinga, this newly enhanced community space is now open for all to enjoy, featuring an array of playground and fitness equipment tailored for both kids and adults.

The new additions include a three-seater nest swing and a thrilling 40-meter zipline that are sure to keep the kids entertained for hours. For those looking to get a workout while enjoying the outdoors, the reserve now boasts a variety of fitness stations.

These include pull-up bars, push-up bars, and a sit-up bench, providing a well-rounded workout environment right in the heart of the community.

The project doesn’t just focus on play and exercise; it also includes environmental enhancements. New native plants and fruit trees have been planted throughout the area, improving biodiversity and adding a splash of natural beauty to the reserve.

One of the key features still under wraps is the grass kick-about area, currently fenced off to let the newly planted seeds establish. By the end of July, it’s expected to be ready for everyone from aspiring soccer stars to families looking for a space to toss a frisbee.

Despite the remaining work on the grass area, the rest of Woodswallow Reserve’s upgrades are ready and waiting for the community.

Local officials are excited about the new facilities, believing they will provide a boost to community health and happiness by encouraging active lifestyles and offering a pleasant environment for relaxation and socializing.

With these new features, Woodswallow Reserve is set to be a top spot in Happy Valley for families looking for a safe and fun place to spend time together outdoors.
