World Cup soccer comes to the City

World CupFor the first time, World Cup Soccer will this year be screened live on the City Cross Super Screen in Adelaide’s Rundle Mall.

Beginning with the opening ceremony this Friday 11 June, the three Australia games in the opening round will then be broadcast live, while highlights of other key games will be broadcast during the day.

Rundle Mall General Manager Martin Haese welcomed the Super Screen news and encouraged people to get down to Rundle Mall to cheer on the Socceroos.

“People have been asking us for big-screen viewing for some time and we resolved to make it happen in time for this year’s World Cup in South Africa.

“The first four screenings will be at night, so I encourage people who want to take part to bring a cushion and rug up,” said Martin.

“The Super Screen is central to Rundle Mall, situated above City Cross. Hopefully lots of people will venture out to urge the Australians on as one united crowd.”

Adelaide City Council will ensure that facilities and services such as toilets, security and catering will be open for the live screenings.
