World Pizza Champion is something we’d love to have on our resume, but pizza-maker Andrea Cozzolino can – after being given the title at the Caputo Cup in Naples last year, where he won with his traditional Neapolitan Margherita pizza.
Italian-born Andrea moved to Australia in 2012, before opening Melbourne pizzeria Zero95 in 2015. On Monday, he held a masterclass at Antica Pizzeria e Cucina on Morphett Street in Adelaide, where he taught everyone how to be a pizza-making champion. Well not exactly, but he did share his tips and tricks on how to make the perfect pizza!
Of course using the freshest ingredients is essential to having tasty pizza, but Andrea also explained the science behind making the perfect pizza (it’s actually kinda complicated), including which methods to use for each type of Caputo flour, as well as the benefits that each one brings to the pizzas themselves.
He even made a gluten free pizza with Caputo’s gluten free flour, that looked AND tasted just like the real thing.
We suggest trying one of these mouth-watering pizzas on the ASAP, but if you can’t make it to Melbz to try Andrea’s very own, you can head to Antica Pizzeria E Cucina on Morphett Street or Hyde Park to devour your very own perfect Italian pizza instead.
