Keeping the art of jazz piano alive, world-class musician Kym Purling will be tinkling the ivories of Franklin Street favourite Luigi Delicatessen tonight, as the popular venue announces a new weekly live music offering starting tonight.

Well-loved around Adelaide for its incredible breakfasts, Luigi’s will be entertaining patrons well into the evening with weekend live performances to accompany their delicious Italian inspired fine dining dishes.

The careful delivery of an epic Yamaha GH-1 grand piano arrived at Luigi Delicatessen this morning, ready for tonight’s premier performance which will entertain audiences from 6 to 9:30.

Having been safely delivered from Elizabeth, the 35 year old piano now proudly stands in the heart of Luigi’s beautiful restaurant, ready to entertain patrons with an evening of swinging music and an atmosphere reminiscent of vibrant restaurants in Italy on a European summer’s evening.

Owner, Naples-born Luigi Di Costanzo, was delighted with the arrival of his new ‘baby’, and the start of Kym Purling’s residency at the venue, calling Kym “one of the best pianist’s around”.

Part of a new residency for professional pianist Kym, regular live performances will now be filling Luigi’s venue over the coming months, featuring incredible musical collaborations with fellow pianists but bassists, singers and talented duets, with Kym playing opposite acclaimed bassist Les Millar for tonight’s performance.

Audiences are in safe hands with world renowned pianist Kym, who has established himself across Australia, Asia, Europe and the US, conducting several Broadway shows for some of the biggest names in show business, including Englebert Humperdinck and Natalie Cole, as well as performing with Frank Sinatra Jnr, Julio Iglesias and Harry Connick Jnr.

With a career spanning almost three decades, Purling has performed in over 144 countries, even earning a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies right here at the University of Adelaide, and is sure to be a huge hit with customers, both regular and new visitors, to Luigi’s.
