Former Adelaide musician Yanni Burton heads out on his first National Tour of Australia featuring his New York City Band.
Born and raised in Australia, Yanni Burton has performed across the globe with artists such as John Legend, Rufus Wainwright and Michelle Williams (Destiny’s Child). Yanni now returns to his homeland from New York City for the debut tour of his EP – Same Old Love. Yanni is a graduate of The Juilliard School, currently living and working in New York as a singer, songwriter and bassist. Yanni released his debut EP – SameOldLove in the United States in April of 2014, produced by Kieran Kelly, Multi Platinum record producer and 4 time Aria Award winner for Angus and Julia Stone’s Album – Down The Way.

The CD release concert received major national press in I Am Entertainment Magazine, Broadway World and Time Out New York. Yanni has also performed at venues including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, The Metropolitan Room, Rockwood Music Hall, and The Bitter End. Yanni has also had the honor of opening for the Winner of The Voice, USA – Jermaine Paul and singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright.
On his debut Tour to Australia, Yanni brings his internationally acclaimed band with him from New York City. His band features fellow South Australians Matthew Sheens and Alana Dawes, who now live and work in New York City alongside Yanni. Matthew Sheens is an award winning pianist and composer having won numerous international awards and the APRA Development Award. Alana Dawes is a double bassist who has performed globally with artists such as Christen Chenoweth and Sherie Renee Scott. Yanni grew up with Matthew and Alana during his high school days in Adelaide, and after 10 years have reconnected in New York City to perform Yanni’s music.
Other members of his band include American musicians Kenneth Salters, twice grammy nominated drummer; Tiger Darrow, Vocalist, who has performed with The Eagles, Erykah Badu, Loudon Wainwright, and Zoe Keating; Peter Pearson, Cellist, international chamber soloist and Sarah Koenig- Plonskier, Violinist, fellow graduate of Juilliard, soloist and orchestral musician.
Yanni and his band will pass through Adelaide for the Fringe Festival, Braidwood, Canberra, Launceston and Melbourne.
