Algal Bloom

Yeah yeah! Daryl Braithwaite rides into Goolwa for summer concert backing algal bloom recovery

The ‘Riding Out the Bloom Concert’is a one-night-only community event.

That’s right, little darling. Daryl Braithwaite is about to belt out “We’ll be riding on the horses, yeah yeah” under the stars in Goolwa this January for Riding Out the Bloom, a celebration of community, resilience, and local spirit.

Gates open at 4pm, with support acts Old Town Road Dance Party (DJ Set) and Taylor Sheridan getting the crowd in the mood before Daryl takes the stage for what’s sure to be an unforgettable performance.

Expect a laidback, picnic-style setup. Bring your own chairs or rugs (though rugs are preferred for the best stage views) and settle in for a summer evening of live music and good vibes. Food and drinks will be supplied by local vendors, and while there’ll be plenty to enjoy, this is a strictly no BYO event.

“This exciting community event will be a celebration of music, resilience, and local spirit — and we’d love for everyone to be part of it!” organisers shared.

And they mean it when they say community event. Every dollar from ticket sales goes straight back to the community. Proceeds will support future community-run events and a new round of small business and community grants for those affected by the recent algae bloom. Local clubs and sporting groups will run bars and food stalls on the night, keeping all funds raised.

Bag checks will take place at entry, but once you’re in, it’s all about good music, local food, and the breezy coastal energy Goolwa does best.

Supported by the Alexandrina Council and the wider Fleurieu Peninsula community, ‘Riding Out the Bloom’ promises to be one of the region’s biggest events of the summer, and a night that locals won’t soon forget. Yeah, yeah.
