The Yiasou Adelaide Greek Festival is coming to Bonython Park in April 2025, and it’s going to be the largest Greek celebration the city has seen in years, with organisers pulling out all the stops. Over the first weekend of April, expect two exciting days packed with Greek culture, delicious food, music, and plenty of Greek spirit!
The Yiasou Adelaide Greek Festival is taking a more traditional approach to the food it will be offering, staying true to its cultural roots. “We’re going straight to the Greek community,” Event Organiser Souli Tsiolis says. “Every region of Greece is represented here in Adelaide, and we’re working with these communities to bring their traditional foods to the festival.”
Festival-goers can look forward to the best of the best of Greek dishes such as yiros, souvlaki, loukoumades, baklava, and the iconic freddo cappuccino and frappe – staples in Greek cafes.
The event will not only celebrate the best of Greek food, but will also feature plenty of entertainment and activities. By day, expect a true cultural experience with community dance schools and traditional performances from local dancers and musicians. By night, the festival will transform, bringing the lively, fun and party-rocking atmosphere of the Greek Islands to Adelaide.
“At night, we’ll do what the Greeks do well: we’ll eat well and we’ll party well,” Souli Tsiolis says. “We’re just going to turn it into a big celebration after, with Greek dance, open to everyone. All the musicians, all the dancers, everyone is from Adelaide. We want to support and unite Greek Adelaidians.”
While the festival will certainly be a celebration of all things Greek, it’s not just for Greek Adelaidians. “This festival is for South Australia,” Souli says. “We want to share our Greek heritage with everyone in the community.”
In the spirit of inclusivity, organisers are calling on local businesses, vendors, creators, and artists within the Greek community to get involved and be part of the celebration. You can enquire by visiting the Yiasou Adelaide Greek Festival website page. “Greek Adelaidians, if you want to be involved, we’re happy to open our arms to you,” Souli says.
For those who’ve been waiting for a major Greek festival to take place in the city, the Yiasou Adelaide Greek Festival is truly everything you’ve been waiting for. “It’s been a while since there’s been a big Greek festival in the city,” Souli says. “We’ve been working on this for nearly eight or nine months, and now it’s time to bring the Greek spirit to Adelaide.”
Whether you’re drawn to the food, the entertainment, or the opportunity to be part of a memorable cultural experience, the Yiasou Adelaide Greek Festival is set to bring a weekend filled with fun, tradition, and spirit. Pop this event in your calendars, and reach out to the team if you want to get involved!
