A resident of Moonta, South Australia, became the state’s second lottery winner this week, when he discovered he had won Set for Life, securing himself $20,000 monthly for the next two decades. The man, whose identity remains undisclosed, held the sole division one winning ticket in the Set for Life draw 3215, which took place on Saturday 25 May 2024. His total winnings amount to an incredible $4.8 million, distributed in these monthly instalments.
When contacted by an official from The Lott to confirm his new financial status, the winner responded with disbelief and excitement. “You’re kidding me?” he exclaimed, followed by, “You beauty! Good on ya, mate!” His emotional reaction continued as he realised the impact of his win: “I’m starting to get really excited. I’m starting to shake!”
The fortunate winner shared some thoughts on how he plans to use the newfound wealth. “I have plenty of children and grandchildren so this will go to great use,” he expressed. Acknowledging his family’s need for a vehicle, he added, “We’re also in need of a new car so maybe we’ll do that too.”
He purchased his winning 3-game QuickPick ticket from Newbery Chemist, located at 24 Graves Street in Kadina. The Newbery Chemist team shared their happiness for the winner’s good fortune and extended their best wishes for his future.
Set for Life draw 3215 produced winning numbers 17, 39, 41, 13, 42, 26, and 22, with supplementary numbers 1 and 43. This particular draw turned out to be remarkable, as the Moonta man was the only division one winner nationally.
This win marks him as the 129th Set for Life division one winner in Australia since the inception of the game. More importantly, he is the fourth division one winner of this calendar year.
Looking back at 2023, 18 Australians were fortunate enough to become Set for Life division one winners. Collectively, they are set to receive $86.4 million over the next two decades. As of 31 December 2023, Set for Life had already awarded over $116.18 million in $20,000 monthly instalments to a total of 125 division one winners across the nation.
