It’s that time of year. The Super Bowl, or the annual final playoff of the National Football League (NFL), will take place on February 13, 2023. Are you looking for somewhere to strap in and watch the game?

Honky-tonk Western saloon bar Shotgun Willie’s is setting up some massive TVs so that you can watch the American game in a bar that celebrates all things America.
Whilst it’s on on a Sunday night in America, it’s aired bright-and-early Monday morning here in Adelaide. The bar will open its doors at 9am so that you have a good seat and booze in hand ready for the kick off at 10am.
And if you need another reason, the venue is turning two on Saturday 11th February.
The bar, nestled amongst the dimly lit booths, is a celebration of America, with a huge selection of whiskeys and beers available. You can also enjoy Southern-style nibbles, including smoked buffalo wings, Sloppy Joe’s loaded fries, and fried mushrooms. And you can polish it all off with the signature watermelon whiskey shots.
A dart board hangs on a corner wall, and a taxidermy deer-head stares down on patrons from its prime position on the wall. It’s quintessentially American.
It’s not just the Super Bowl on at Shotgun Willie’s, with the bar holding regular special nights and scores of live music.
The most popular is the Bottomless Chicken Tuesday nights, with Eric ‘Tooch’ Santucci playing every week whilst you indulge. Then, on Sunday nights there’s half-priced wings and cheap Pabst Blue Ribbon handles.
On the weekends, the room heats up and the crowd gets incredibly lively. The foot-stomping live music turns the quaint bar into a club.
The 2023 Super Bowl will be held at State Farm Stadium in Arizona, and will feature half-time entertainment by Rhianna, marking her first live performance in over five years.
The event will be screened at both Shotgun Willies and sister-bar Memphis Slims’ House of Blues. So grab your mates, put on your jerseys and watch some football at Gilbert Place.
