You Will Want To Put These Dates In Your Diary; The RCC Is Back Bigger And Better

Adelaide’s popular outdoor Fringe ‘performance hub’ in the heart of the City is back! Over 60 shows, more than 150 artists and six very different performance spaces!

For 28 days in February and March the Royal Croquet Club in Victoria Square / Tarntanyangga will become the stage to artists from across the globe. The RCC performance program includes something for everyone from the very young to the not too old.

For the second year RCC’s Program Producers, Sasha Zahra and Louise Clarke, have again put together a worldclass program to ensure audiences can experience something new. The 2016 program boasts 38 shows in five venues performed by over 100 artists, covering the genres of circus and physical theatre, puppetry, comedy, mime, cabaret, African music & dance, jazz, beat box, magic, electronic music plus dramatic theatre.

Add to that the carefully curated music program of on point local, national and international DJs and live music acts which will take over a sixth performance space – Main Stage at the northern tip of the Square.

Program highlights include international smash hit and the Adelaide premier of Cirque Alfonse’s BARBU – Electro Trad Cabaret from Canada; the amazing blend of dance, circus and live music in all genius all idiot from Sweden; key-board comic virtuoso The Pianist from New Zealand.

Returning Fringe favourites include the 2015 Adelaide Fringe Circus & Physical Theatre Award winners, the allboy Briefs and the all-girl favourite Hot Brown Honey with revamped shows, the dazzling Scotch & Soda, the raucous Penny Arcade from New York in her first visit for a few years; Dandyman with the all new Prince Idiot, 2015 Greenroom Award winning Desperate and Dateless and much loved Jamie McDowell & Tom Thum.

Also on the program is multi award winning, instrumentalist and SA local Adam Page with his versatile musical skills in Chairman of the Beard; the internationally acclaimed and wonderful puppetry and storytelling of The Adventures of Alvin Sputnik: Deep Sea Explorer; Anya Anastasia’s extraordinary vocals, mesmerizing ukulele and keyboards in Torte e Mort: Songs of Cake and Death. And the hilarious Half-naked Chef – Burnt to a Crisp! from England will perform in his own little shop-front nestled among the food stalls.

Extended opening hours on the weekend will allow the RCC to play host to a brilliant family program with great shows for the kids including Brat Kids Carnival from the flamboyant creators of Briefs; The Adventures of Broer and Zus; ‘Sweden’s Got Talent’ winner in Minor Miracles; Grumpy Pants and The Vintage Quartestra presented by the Scotch & Soda’s band. Plus a variety of FREE fun family activations are planned.
