Young Adelaide Organist To Perform At Town Hall

A free organ and choral concert will be held at Adelaide Town Hall on Sunday November 27th featuring young local musician Alexander Paine.

Collaborating with the Choir of Pilgrim Church and the Academy Choir of St Francis Xavier’s Cathedral, Paine will be spreading the Christmas cheer with some well-loved carols mixed with classics such as I Was Glad by Hubert Parry, and Bach's Passacaglia in C Minor.

“It will be a lovely concert with something for the whole family,” Lord Mayor Stephen Yarwood said. “Come into the city, get into the Christmas spirit and make a day of it.”

Aged just 19, Paine is one of Adelaide’s most eminent organists, having last month completed the Australian Music Examinations Board Licentiate of Music Diploma in organ with distinction, a rare achievement, as well as the Associate of Music in piano. In 2009 and 2010 he was awarded an Elder Conservatorium Director’s Award for excellence in recorder and organ.

The concert will be directed by Peter Kelsall and will be held from 3pm to 4.15pm. No bookings or tickets are required.

Date: Sunday November 27 2011.
Time: 3 – 4.15pm.
Location: Adelaide Town Hall, King William St, Adelaide.
