It’s that time of year again to slip into your frock, bust out the fascinator and celebrate the return of Spring Racing. Champagne, food, fashion, and horses. What’s not to love? There’s a whole season ahead of us and the time is now to start your preparations. Adelaide is already gearing up for the mother of all seasons at Morphettville Racecourse.
Here are the dates you need to have in your calendar this Spring Racing Season:
Caulfield Cup Day – 21 October
Celebrate the start of the Spring Carnival at Caulfield Cup Day! Keep up with the prestigious Caulfield Cup action in Melbourne with live Victorian coverage and also enjoy live racing right here at Morphettville Racecourse. From the racing purist, the fine dining lovers, the corporate seekers and social swirler, there’s an opportunity for everyone to revel in the world of spring racing.
Pamper yourself with the Winning Post Restaurant package for $130 per person, including an exclusive range of wines, cocktails and spirits, accompanied by a gorgeous menu prepared by Festival Gardens. Enjoy it all from a private suite for just $179 per person. If throwing a few snags on the Barbie sounds like you, BBQ at the Races offers a gourmet BBQ buffet luncheon, live entertainment and a massive gold five hour beverage package. Tickets are $120 per person.
Or if you just simply want to watch the races, the The Trifecta is $35 per person, including entry to the races and one food and beverage voucher.
Cox Plate Day – October 28
There is no such thing as overindulging on Morphettville’s Cox Plate Day; a day that encourages the upmost elegance of a well-tailored suit, and is quite partial to a black tie. Yep, it’s Gentleman’s Day. And the races from Mooney Valley will be on the big screen. General admission is $15, and as always, kids entry is free.
But if you enjoy the finer things in life, then the Punters Lounge is for you. Enjoy grazing on an indulgent cocktail menu and five hour beverage package from the elevated viewing deck. Tickets are $165 per person. If a trackside party is more your style, the Spring Carnival Lawn Party offers unobstructed views of Winning Post and plenty of space to relax and enjoy the race with your friends. The package includes food and beverage vouchers, allocated table and seating for your group, DJ entertainment and of course, entry to the races. Tickets are $85 per person.
Victoria Derby Day – November 4
The prelude to the race that stops a nation. Whether it be a suit and tie, or a dress to the floor, nothing says glamour more than black and white; and what better way to indulge in glamour than with the Punters Lounge package, only $165 per person, which includes entry, a five hour beverage package, and exclusive access to betting facilities.
Ladies, don’t stress on what to wear, because with this black and white brief, it’s impossible to mismatch your outfit. What’s not to understand? Elegance, glamour, delicious food. It’s all here… in black and white!
Melbourne Cup Day – November 7
The big one kahunas. Get yourself to Morphettville Racecourse for Adelaide’s celebration of the Melbourne Cup as thousands gather to create an electric atmosphere worthy of the day.
This is the day where South Australia’s most stylish race-goer will be approached as the fashionista king or queen, and will go in the running to win $1000 cash and other great prizes. The winner of this heat will automatically qualify for the Fashion at The Races SA State Final so be at your best.
The Rose Garden (Victoria Square) – November 7
After a sell out debut at Adelaide Cup Day 2016, The Rose Garden returns with its lush, chic private garden setting featuring live entertainment all day, as well as a French Champagne Bar, Ladies Style Bar, Coffee Bar, Bocce Lawns and more. They’ll also be giving away over $1500 worth of prizes throughout the day, including a BMW for the weekend. And then you’ve got Sneaky Sound System headlining the Entertainment for the after party. Tickets are a steal at $150 and are available at www.rosegardentickets.com. You really should spend the whole day.

Clare Valley Cup – November 26
There’s nothing like a spring fling, so fall in love with this year’s Clare Valley Cup. Celebrate all things that make the Clare Valley great- great food, great wine and great entertainment on the track! Travel up to Clare for the day and enjoy some country hospitality with tickets starting from just $10 and a classic DIY Private Marquee option for those wanting to Glam things up for the day.
This is one of South Australia’s most beautiful race meets, and your chance to get out of town and breathe the clean crispy Clare air in.
Twilight Races – December 15
Technically, this is summer, but the festive atmosphere continues in the warm evening beneath the lights of Morphetville. Wrap up 2017 in style with friends or colleagues at the Twilight Races. Kicking off in the afternoon, head down to Morphetville after work in your summer best, or chill out whilst you enjoy amazing trackside hospitality.
Enjoy a sit down dinner with the Champions Dinner or Deck the Halls packages whilst taking in fantastic views. If trackside is more your thing, the Twilight Lawn Party offers a relaxed hospitality environment, with bars just steps away. In between races, enjoy live entertainment and a Best Dressed competition.
