Your guide to 2025 Winter Solstice events in Adelaide

From epic celebrations, to banquets, the Winter Solstice is bringing some fantastic events to SA this year.

This Saturday, 21 June marks the shortest day and longest night of the year. This year’s Winter Solstice is right in the middle of the day at 12:12pm, 4 hours, 42 minutes shorter than the December solstice. The occasion often brings out events, celebrations and festivities, and this year is no exception. Here’s what you can do leading up to the annual solstice, with events continuing through the weekend.

Winter Solstice Pagan Banquet at Pirate Life | 19 June

 

On Thursday, June 19th, join Pirate Life for a Winter Solstice feast like no other, as they team up with chef Alana Brabin for a fire-lit, pagan-inspired banquet celebrating bold flavours, local produce, and the longest night of the year.

Dark Tides Festival: A Winter Solstice Celebration in the Heart of Port Adelaide | 20 – 22 June

 

Port Adelaide’s Dark Tides Festival is returning this June to light up the longest night of the year. There will be glowing lanterns, live music, delicious food, and a winter solstice pub crawl that winds through Port Adelaide’s historic streets. This is a celebration that’s a walkable, whimsical winter wonderland you won’t want to miss.

Hills Winter Solstice Eve | 20 June

Celebrate the Winter Solstice at Mount Barker’s Pop Up Park on Friday June 20 from 3:30pm to 8:30pm, with fire entertainment, live music, food trucks, winter cocktails, and more. Winter Solstice Adventure Ride | 21 June

This Winter Solstice Adventure Ride is a relaxed gravel ride that’s a step up from our usual social rides. You’ll head into the hills at a casual pace with no one left behind, though there may be steep climbs and loose surfaces, so come prepared. Bring a suitable bike, water, sunscreen, and a repair kit, and keep your eyes peeled for koalas.
