There is one combo that we just can’t get enough of at the moment and that is the ever tasty crab and pasta pairing. Here’s our top picks.

There are some foods that were just made to be eaten together and crab in pasta is one of them. Here in SA we’re lucky enough to have access to fresh, locally caught crab over the summer months and a number of restaurants have taken advantage of the easy access to create some truly delicious dishes that are a must for any pasta or crustacean lover. Here’s a few of our favourites:

The New York-style Italian restaurant by Masterchef alumni, Laura and Max Sharrad, is the second instalment from the couple which sees a similar menu to Nido but with a twist. The menu is a personal drawing inspiration from Sharrad’s own travels through Italy, and features a must-try crab dish. The hand-rolled Taglierini is served with hand-picked Blue Swimmer Crab, chilli, garlic, salmon roe, and chive.

Gepetto’s at Hahndorf

This cosy Italian gem is located on the main street of Hahndorf and is bursting with atmosphere. Gepetto’s prides itself on serving up rustic Italian food with local ingredients, and their Linguini Con Grancho doesn’t disappoint. The perfectly cooked pasta is tossed with Blue Swimmer Crab, tomato, cream & brandy sauteed with chilli and garlic. It’s not super spicy though, so if you love a bit of zing, make sure you ask for their chilli oil, which is the perfect addition. We also love the Linguini Seafood too. Just make sure you go there hungry!
