South Australia’s love affair with schnitzels continues to grow (as does the infamous Adelaide Schnitzel Appreciation Facebook Group), and it got us thinking about the HUGE range of weird and wonderful schnitzels that are on offer across SA.

Back in the good ol’ days, the Adelaide Casino used to serve up their 18 inch schnitzel challenge – which only a few people managed to eat their way though, but these days, oversized pizza box schnitties are all the rage.

Then there’s all-you-can-eat schnitzel nights, love heart schnitzels for the ‘ultimate’ date night, nacho schnitties, pizza topped schnitzels and more.

So without further ado, here’s a list of some of the most insane and mouth-watering schnitzels in town that we, South Aussies just cannot resist!

Monica’s Pizza, Ridgehaven

Although the name has pizza in it (which still sounds tempting), make sure you also try their huge and delicious range of chicken and veal schnitzels. With great prices and greater offers, you can relish these dishes any day of the week and from morning to night!

Find it at 9/1007 North East Road, Ridgehaven.

Fire and Stone

The schnitties are better at Fire and Stone. And these ones are MASSIVE.

There’s the plain chicken schnitzel, and the plain parmigiana. But there’s also a gourmet twist in the Creamy Mushroom Schnitzel, and the The Lot Schnitzel, adorned with Napoletana sauce, mozzarella, ham, and salami. And don’t miss the mouthwatering Creamy Garlic Prawn Schnitzel, or the savoury Salami Schnitzel topped with mozzarella.

Find it at Shop 2, 139 Glynburn Road, Firle

Portafino, Port Adelaide

Down on the port, Portafinos has a massive range of massive schnitzels. Literally. Over 27 toppings to choose from.

Try The Pepperoni or Italiano with salami, mushroom, and olives. Indulge in the Greco with feta and olives, or go for the Big BBQ with shredded chicken and smoky BBQ sauce. For a Caribbean twist, taste the pineapple and avocado of the Caribbean Schnitzel. Experience fiery flavors with Texas Style’s jalapeños and chili. Relish the Margarita’s tomato and bocconcini cheese, or dive into Nachos Mexicana with corn chips, cheese, salsa, guacamole, and jalapeños. And for prawn and bacon lovers, Pig N’ Prawns is a treat.

Find it at Unit 20/200 Commercial Rd, Port Adelaide.

The Gungellan Hotel, Freeling

Stop everything.

Experience indulgence with The Gungellan Hotel’s Cheeseburger Schnitzel. A juicy schnitzel topped with melted cheese, ham, tomato sauce, and mustard. A delicious twist on a classic favorite, perfect for satisfying your cravings.

Find it at 2 Gray Street, Freeling.

Joe’s Pizza Bar, Henley Beach Road

Joe’s Pizza Bar is famous for their huge, fresh and tender schnitzels. What attracts people are the variety of topping options available for each person’s own preferences. They’re open from Tuesday through Sundays, 4:30pm onwards.

Find it at 415 Henley Beach Rd, Brooklyn Park.

Schnitzel Factory at Cafe Pallazo, North Adelaide

Have you been to Cafe Palazzo recently and checked out their new sub-menu called ‘The Schnitzel Factory’? Unlike a normal menu, this one is specially dedicated to honouring all the schnitzel lovers!

The menu states ‘Giant Schnitzels’ so be prepared to get just that! It sure looks absolutely delicious.

Find it at 180 O’ Connell Street, Adelaide.

M.A.D Bar and Bistro, Moorook

MAD is an understatement for how crazy their schnitzels really are. Check out their super giant schnitzels, weighing almost a kilogram. MAD serve a blend of traditional bistro style and quirky modern Australian food with great entertaining ambience.

You can find it at 624 Kingston Rd, Moorook South

All-You-Can-Eat Schnitzels at the Cudlee Creek Tavern

Every Thursday night, the Cudlee Creek Tavern are offering the deal of the century. All-you-can-eat schnitzels for $12.0. It’s outrageous. With chicken, pork and beef schnitties on the menu, you can also enjoy a vegetable and salad buffet, chips and plain gravy – OVER AND OVER AGAIN. For a small additional price, you can also step things up a little, with flavoured sauces and gravy also on offer, and parmigana also an option.

Find it at 2121 Gorge Rd, Cudlee Creek

Jarmer’s Kitchen Schnitzel Tower

Mt SchnitzelYama, as coined, is six schnitzels, stacked on each other, dripping with gravy, and served with a side (a full plate) of chips. While it’s not always available, it’s definitely worth calling ahead and checking, because if you love a good Schnitzel, Chris Jarmer from Jarmer’s Kitchen, knows how to deliver. This epic schnitty tower is $70 with sides, so either go hungry and cashed up, or take a few mates with you (they’ve confirmed you’re allowed to).

You can find it at 18 Park Terrace, Bowden.

Commercial Hotel, Strathalbyn

Um. No description needed. Look at the SIZE OF THAT SCHNITZEL.

I’ll have three thanks.

You can find it at 27 High Street, Strathalbyn.
